Hey. Well things are calm here!!! I should not say that I'll jinx things! Dad is doing better, very stiff and sore but he is moving around and drove his truck today. So he is getting better. The guy that pulled out in front of him is 83 yrs old. Now I have NO issue with old people driving, my Gram is 87 and she drives. But I think this man should have to take a drivers test again to prove he is still competent. He is only being charged with failure to stop at a stop sign. He almost killed someone but that's all he is being fined for. I don't get it.
Anyway, after all the drama we did have a nice weekend. On Saturday Danny and I ride our bikes up to the Harley dealer to see Dad's bike. It doesn't look horrible, but the frame might be bent. The tank has a huge dent and the crash bar is wrapped around the side of the bike. Jed stayed with mom and dad and The Mac was there. They wore each other out!
Yesterday we had a little party at Grace's for her B-day. It was fun. lots of good food, she was to grill some chicken and use paper plates but of course we got there and the table was set and she made a ton of food to go with the pasta salad, deviled eggs and cake I brought and the baked beans mom brought. Gram came down with mom, everyone was glad to see her. Adam and Tiersa came for a little and brought a pitcher of margaritas! yummy. Meg and Jace and Johnny were there of course. Jim did lots of grilling. It was a good day, we had fun.
Today I had to get Jed up at 7am to go to the dentist with me at 8. I lost part of a filling a few weeks ago but it didn't hurt so I just ignored it. Well it started to hurt the day we left for Savannah..of course. It hurt on and off while we were gone and I used up my secret stash of vicodin! I finally decided to get it fixed. It did not hurt when I woke up this morning but now that they have "fixed" it it hurts SOOO bad! Now my whole jaw hurts. Great I just had almost $1,000 worth of work done to fix the pain but it is worse! They said because of what they had to do it might be "uncomfortable" for a few days...oh yipee! Of course my first thought was of good, I will not eat if it hurts....HA seems like nothing can stop me from stuffing my face, even extreme jaw pain. Good God.
Jed is doing ok. He had school this evening. He is tired though from the early morning wake up call! Tomorrow we have off from clinic again. I have to cut Gram's hair at 10 then maybe head to the pool if the weather is good. That's all for now.
Gotta go take more meds!...Oh the best part, while I was whining about how much it hurt Jed said "go take something for pain and quit complaining...nice! No sympathy in this house!

Eli, Sue and Brett... we continue to send you love and strength, enjoy Hawaii and then come home and kick cancer's ass..enough is enough right?!

Ok weird that not too long after I wrote the last post Danny called me from work to say that mom was headed to the hospital because some dork had pulled out in front of my dad while he was on his motorcycle. People just do not pay attention.....LOOK FOR MOTORCYCLES people..geeze. Dad is ok. He spent the day having a fun ambulance ride and hours in the ER with lots of tests. Because of his years of riding experience he thought quick enough to lay the bike down before he hit the truck or he would have gone over it or into the windshield. No broken bones, no blood, almost no road rash and he didn't hit his head! His shoulders are messed up and he will be VERY stiff and sore for some time. Very lucky. Whew. Dad is home and resting. His main concern was his bike. My Uncle Jack went to the tow place and took all the personal stuff out of the bike but Dad was still worried about it sitting out somewhere. I called Denise Laugherman at Laugherman's Harley, she had someone pick it up and bring it to them so it could be inside and locked up. Adam saw it and said it is not totaled. Just needs a lot of work I guess. Maybe tomorrow we will go check it out and see the extent of the damage.
So much for a lazy day at the pool! I guess 1 was my limit!
It's quiet here now, well except for Danny's electric guitar! Jed is in his room, ticked off at me. 1st because somehow he got baby oil in his hair in the shower last night. I asked him to wash it, he says he did twice today...looks the same, greasy and nasty. I told him that and he disagrees with my assessment...to say the least. Then I told him to go work on his homework...was not too happy about that either! Savannah stomped out of here angry too. She was unhappy with something I said..which was a whole bunch of nothing and all of a sudden she was slamming the dishwasher and stomping out the door, Kyle in tow. Oh well, big mommy brownie points for me today!...Hey I got good daughter points though!
I want cookies....why can't they make cookies with no calories and no fat but good tasting? We send people to space for god's sake calorie-less cookies are not too much to ask for I would think! Maybe some coffee, nice and sweet with splenda will help!
Please stop the MJ news, He is dead, get over it. The best part of him was his music and that is still here. I am still sad about Farrah though!
Skinny Jed is calling me..his little legs look like matchsticks!
Gotta go Love Jed and Kristin

This all happens July 18th , the presentation is to be at 10 am and I think I have to stay until 4pm for something else. I am excited! Mom and maybe Savannah are driving up and Dad, Dan and I are riding. Jed will make his decision last minute depending on how he feels. He is sleeping right now. I was hoping to go to Grace's to hang in the pool but I think yesterday knocked him out! Oh well. Anyway I wanted to make sure I told ya that I won...thanks for all the votes!!!!

Good day. Jed and I picked up D and after stopping for snacks headed to Grace's to swim. The boys fished, played in the creek, swam and ate their snacks. Think we might head back there tomorrow. D is still with us, we grilled hot dogs..gourmet meal! They are upstairs playing video games..of course! It was a nice day. Sunday having a cook out at G's for her B-day...swimming again!!
Jed got to pick and eat the 1 strawberry we have been able to grow! All the others were eaten by birds or rotted in the dirt. This was was perfect, looked like a picture of a strawberry! Jed said it was the sweetest one he has ever eaten! Hope we get a few more!
That's all for now.

Hi all. let's see..oh yesterday I went with Savannah to college to do an orientation thing and she picked her classes. I was excited to be back there. I am so hoping to start again in Jan. Anyway...not about me...Savannah got her schedule all set up and she hooked up with a faculty advisor for THON. They jumped on having her aboard for next year. She will be attending meetings already over the summer! A guy she talked to said "we did very well this year, we met our $10,000 goal" Savannah didn't want to make him feel bad but when he asked what red lion's mini thon made and she told him $28,000 he said "well I think we need your help"! So she is off and running. I then went to Gram's and helped her unpack after her move down the hall! She got a smaller apt and seems to love it. Every flippin' old person in that place had to stop by and check it out!!! So funny.
Jed and I took dad for an MRI today..even with his ativan he said never mind! They are going to send him to the open one! His shoulder is hurting again. Hey, we got lunch out of the deal! Jed then went to Grace's but Jace was tired. Jed called me to come get him. He told Grace " I'm sorry I just can't do it today"!! Jace was really crazy!! Funny kid. Jed has been asleep now since about 7pm!
Tomorrow we hope to swim. I am putting the link up for the Savannah pics. There are a lot...just a warning, I was looking for ghosts and i love the moss
Gotta go treadmill and get rid of all the southern food and sweet tea I carried home with me.

On the river front in Savannah, Ga
as soon as I get all the pics from mom and Savannah and edit and stuff I will put up the link....lots of good ghost orbs..I even got a ghost...no really!
Hi everyone. SOOO, I am home from Savannah. It was awesome. I really truely loved it there. I know out of the 3 of us I had the best time but I think Mom and Savannah liked it too. The heat bothered them, for some reason I had no problem with it. The city is so amazing and Tybee island is the stuff beach dreams are made of! I could have just stayed. I think Jed was glad to see us, he seemed a little subdued. Grace said he was kind of like that the whole time we were gone. Everyone said he did very well though. He is just now waking up. He must have wanted a little extra attention last night because he tried to tell me he had a fever around 12am. He said I couldn't check it though because the thermometer broke after he used it. Humm, weird. He took some Tylenol and off to sleep he went.
I heard it rained here while we were gone...glad it stopped! Adam, Tiersa and The Mac took Jed to the balloon festival on Saturday and out for pizza. Jed was thrilled he kept sending me cell phone pics! I bet the Mac was so excited to have him in the car with her!
Savannah is picking up her Penn State ID today! Tomorrow I have to go with her to do some stuff... pick classes and stuff. I have to ask dad or Grace to come over and hang with Jed. Danny is at work, can't tell if he's glad we are home or not! I think he is relieved if anything! I am headed to the grocery store when Jed decides to roam downstairs. That's it for now. Just trying to get the laundry done.

Hi All. Jed did great at clinic today. His counts are GREAT! He did his inhaled antibiotic and is feeling good. He hasn't even started getting weird about me leaving tonight...lets hope it stays that way. I guess that's all for now. Savannah, Mommo and I are leaving at 6pm for our trip to Savannah, Ga. I'll keep ya posted on what's happening. All the boys are staying home...but Grace will be here in the mornings to make sure all is well and the house is still standing!

Hi. Well our weekend ended with some excitement. My nephew, Dakota, hit a cow...yes a cow.. on his ATV at 1am Sunday morn. He lives in Mifflin. He was life flighted to Altoona hospital. I saw him yesterday. He is covered, head to toe, with road rash. He has a broken shoulder blade, rib and has a small brain bleed that is healing. He also has a huge laceration to his tongue...they decided not to suture it, the thinking is it will heal better on it's own. Poor guy, he looks pretty rough. The prognosis is a full recovery so he is going to be fine,,,just will have a an uncomfortable summer. Mindy and Barry, his parents, are holding up ok. It's not the call you want to get at 1am. Thank goodness it was right near their house. He was taking a route he has taken for years between his friends house and his own. This was a rogue cow in the middle of the road. The friend he had on the back is going to be fine, just some scrapes and cuts. Oh my 15 yr old boys can be exhausting!! I went to the hospital yesterday....a 3hr ride turned into almost 5hrs..I missed my turnpike exit and they are soooooo far apart up there I had to drive miles and miles to get off the stupid turnpike and turn around....AAHHH! oh and I got a speeding ticket on the way up and the policeman gave me directions to the WRONG hospital..nice. It was an adventurous morning. The whole drive up I was worried I would get a phone call from home saying Jed had a fever! He had a temp of 100 on and off Saturday eve. I was very worried it would get worse....It didn't.... yay! He is really tired and starting to bruise a lot. I think he needs blood. He is only on a half dose of chemo because his counts drop so fast on this drug and he has been on it for 2 weeks....I think they will probably stop it after his appointment tomorrow. Savannah, Mom and I leave tomorrow night so of course I am trying not to panic about his low counts. I explained to him that there is an airport very close to our hotel in Savannah and there are flights right into Harrisburg so I can be home fairly quickly if he gets a fever...I think that made him feel better. His stress about me being so far away is most likely making him feel worse.
SOOOO that's what's happening right now.
Exciting right??!!! oh my. The good news it that Dakota will make a full recovery.

Savannah and her forever friend Kourtney..recent grads!
Hi all. Not much happening here since the graduation excitement has calmed down. I will put up the pic link on the right. I was going to edit them and all that stuff but....welp, I'm just too lazy! Jed is doing well. He made it through 2 1/2 days of school..not that there was any work to do! On Thursday he had a very long day. School in the morning and graduation that night and then our little stop at The Great American Saloon for appetizers, drinks and dessert..it was a busy long day and Jed did well. Yesterday after school he went to Home Depot with me....after a stop at Sonic of course. We got some white stain for the back fence. We replaced almost all of the fence and I gave it a kind of white wash. We still need 2 more sections of fence to make the gate and finish the end. That will probably be a project that takes forever to get finished! When we were getting the paint mixed I looked over and Jed was reclining in the patio furniture section. He found a really cushy reclining rocker thing! I think he would have slept there if I had let him! So that's all for now. I have to go try to wake him ...fun. Savannah is sleeping, Dan is out on his bike and I have to go pick weeds.

Jed and Hayley
Hey. They fund raiser was a fantastic success. This little girl knocked on doors, went to local businesses, hit up family members, etc!!! The total...4,404.00!!!!!
Her goal was 1,000..she blew that away! Amazing. We are so appreciative and will be delivering this to Four Diamonds on our next clinic trip. This is such a wonderful family, very understanding, caring, interested and wanting to help. Jed and the amazing Althoff family Joe, Hayley, Debbie and Ashlyn
The party was wonderful. Jed came home and went right to bed! It was really great for Jed to see his classmates. They all sat in a circle and said nice things to Jed and Hayley....the boys actually spoke more than the girls!!! It was all wonderful. So many of the Altoff's family and friends came to help too. We really are just blown away by their selflessness and can't thank them enough.
Happy Birthday Hayley!!!!
Thanks also to my whole family..I am so glad everyone was there it meant alot. Adam, Tiersa, Liv...who had a great time....Mommo, Hop, Grace, Jim, Megan and of course Jase. Nana even stopped on her way home from work.
another big thanks to Mrs. Dunham,,school principal..she gave the go ahead to have the party in the school because it has not stopped raining for 2 days!
Love and thanks to everyone.

SOO, Jed's bone pain from the steroids is getting the best of him. He has been sore in varying degrees for the past few days but yesterday eve and last night it got worse. He had trouble getting out of the car and if he sat down too long it hurt, if he stood too long it hurt...etc. Last night I had to up his morphine dose just so he was comfortable enough to sleep....took awhile. Between Jed in pain and the dog FREAKING OUT over the storm no one slept very well!...Savannah probably did now that I think of it! She hears nothing up there in her world.
Anyway I woke Jed this morning and he wanted to go back to the hospital..not a good sign. I gave him pain meds and told him to go back to sleep. he cried for awhile and is now sleeping again. I am hoping if we can control the pain enough to get through the next couple of days the steroids will wear off and the pain will ease up. Fingers crossed. That's what's up as of now. I will keep you posted as the drama unfolds!
Trish.....where are the pics?? Holly where are the pics??? Geeze people get with it we are waiting!!!!! :)

Hi. Clinic went pretty smoothly. Joanne took care of him again, he was ok, didn't freak out too much. They were taking pics of some of the kids to update the website with. Jed got to sit in the "quiet" room and play his DS while the guy snapped pics of him doing his thing.....hard job right?! So maybe he will end up on the website for Hershey Med peds Hem/onc.
I didn't get his counts yet but they must be ok because I did get an email telling me to start his chemo...lighter dose but at least he is started.
We went to Hershey this morning and came home for an hour and a half then we turned around and went back up 83. Instead of going right at Harrisburg we went left to the Harley dealer. Danny had to drop off his bike to get the 1,000 mile service. They are so nice there but geeze it is a haul!
Jed is feeling fairly good. His bones are very sore from the steroids. Yesterday after he had school he was stiff and extra sore from sitting so long.....too bad having school tomorrow anyway! I told him to stand up once in a while!
When we got home after all the riding around today I had to get him out of the car! Poor guy. So glad that will wear off soon.
A few people we are thinking about today, our little friend Angelina, we saw her today and she is scheduled for transplant in 5-6 weeks. She is achy and feels horrible. We saw The Dude...Eli. He had a clean scan a few weeks ago...all clear no sign of cancer. He was at clinic today for back pain....He and his parents are so super nice...fingers crossed for both. Next is our #1 nurse, Holly, she had a little baby boy..Adam...my brother's name is Adam..yay Holly!!!!! and last but certainly not least the 2 most awesome parents in the world, Trish and Pete, they were given a little baby..Lucas, as a foster child today. Best news I have heard in a very long time. All of you are in our thoughts.
Jed's thoughts are also on his book about Thomas Edison, he has a speech to give tomorrow about the book. He has made it VERY clear that he does not care that everyone else in the family loves to read...he does not...and he said he is not all that interested in Thomas Edison!!! He falls asleep as soon as he starts to read! Oh my, I feel the stress coming for tomorrow. He was not thrilled when I told him required reading was going to be a big part of his life for many more years...at least the next 11..probably shouldn't have told him that...too late.
So I think that is all for now. Savannah did all her laundry and I think I see a shirt I bought some time ago and only wore 1 time before it disappeared. I better snag it now~!
Gotta go
